Disney Yellow Shoes Creative Group

From January to June 2023, I was a professional graphic design intern at Disney’s Yellow Shoes Creative Group. Yellow Shoes is Disney’s internal advertising agency that specializes in print and digital work to publicize the company’s theme parks, resorts, cruise lines, and properties. Throughout the 6 months, I tackled 30 projects across multiple Disney franchises, including Lucasfilm, National Geographic, Adventures by Disney, and of course, Mickey Mouse himself. I worked on billboards, direct mailers, pamphlets, menus, storyboards, 3D interactive displays, and more. Scroll to see a few of my projects (that I’m allowed to show)!

STAR WARS GALACTIC STARCRUISER DIRECT MAILER

Getting to work on a Star Wars project was a dream come true. Below, you’ll find the concept work and final piece that was stopped just before it was put into production…because the Galactic Starcruiser announced its end in Fall 2023. Great timing, I know.

The final concept we landed on was to create a high-end travel booklet that dives deeply into the experience aboard the starcruiser. There is a metallic timeline that takes you through the whole piece, which weaves in and out of the guests and characters featured in the photos.

DISNEY WORLD’S H2O GLOW PARTY

I was responsible for refreshing the 2023 H2O Glow Party out-of-home billboards to advertise across Florida. You can find the final billboard below.

With many iterations and hours on Photoshop, I worked to perfectly combine our target age group with an exciting “glow party” look.

At the final presentation where we shared the billboard below, our Partners remarked, “This is the most exciting creative we’ve seen for H2O Glow in a long time!”

DISNEY100 CITY BANNERS AND TRAM BILLBOARDS

I designed new Disney100 Anaheim and Garden Grove street banners along with the billboards next to the Disneyland tram. It blew my mind when they got their very own blog article feature!

AULANI RESORT DIGITAL DINING BOARDS

Disney’s Aulani requested new digital boards to advertise their dining options across the resort. Although these didn’t make it to the resort in the end, it was a great project to explore the brand and curate beautiful photography.

I began with multiple different layout and color treatments, which you can explore below.

As you can see, for the final version we simplified the color palette and shapes. We ended up with an option that let the photos shine.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CATALOGS

I helped edit the massive National Geographic Expeditions catalog. Over 400 edits later, it was released in June 2023.

After getting the hang of things, I helped the National Geographic team by laying out their Wildlife Catalog.

FLOWER AND GARDEN FESTIVAL

I refreshed Walt Disney World’s EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival billboards, Pointe Display animation board, and event one-pager. I made about 20 different digital boards, and put together a storyboard to animate the graphics, and chose photos to capture the event.

“I’M GOING TO DISNEYLAND” SUPER BOWL SIGNS

Every year, Disney shows the classic “I’m going to Disneyland!” segment after the Super Bowl. For ESPN, I created signs that fans in the stands held to celebrate either the Chiefs or the Eagles. Although only 1 sign was shown on-air (classic), I made 12 concepts for each team.
